SKIN Peel TREATMENTS IN OXFORDSHIRE
Alumier MD Skin Peels
Customised Luxury Skin Peels: From £100
The term "skin peel" sounds a lot scarier than the reality. Not every skin peel will cause uncomfortable skin shedding and redness you may have seen on TV; this level of deep peeling is rarely needed. In reality, Light and medium depth peels are preferred, with only a little dryness for a few days, before revealing an illuminated skin complexion. Repeated treatments, for progressive and gradual results are advised, avoiding the side effects and downtime associated with deeper peels.
Chemical peels work by deeply exfoliating the surface layers of the skin, forcing your body to quickly replenish it with new cells. When peels are performed regularly, the skin gets used to this process and begins to rejuvenate itself like younger skin. Peel treatments improve skin texture and firmness, decreasing fine lines and wrinkles. Peels also even out skin tone, improve acne-prone skin and reduce pore size appearance.

Lumiere Medispa And Alumier MD Skin Peels
We provide enzyme and light- to medium-depth facial peels from Alumier MD, that are known for their excellent results and safety profile. No two skin are the same, which is why we customise each client's treatment program to their individual skin-type and/or skin condition. Not only do Alumier MD peels contain scientifically-backed pure active ingredients, they also allow for facial zoning customisation, meaning we can often treat multiple skin concerns within one treatment. Pre-treatment skin care products from Alumier MD will precondition the skin, accelerate results and minimize complications. Some peeling may be expected 3 days later, however this will look more like flakes than peeling, and will disappear in one to 2 days. Preparation products are key to keep any skin peeling to a minimum whilst maximising the result.
Post Procedure Prescription Care
All Alumier MD facial treatments include 5 days of Post-treatment skin care products that will help to minimize complications, heal and soothe the skin and then maintain the results.
PLEASE NOTE: Chemical peels should only be performed by a trained skin healthcare professional in order for them to be delivered safely and effectively.
Alumier MD Skin Peels | Frequently Asked Questions
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
After one treatment your overall skin tone and complexion will appear smooth, glowing and fresh. Depending on skin conditions, multiple treatments may be necessary for desired results. A series of 2-3 treatments applied once every 4 weeks will allow for optimal results for more severe skin conditions such as Melasma and active acne.
HOW SEVERE WILL MY PEELING BE?
Generally there is only a small amount of peeling to be expected as AlumierMD skin peels are light to medium depth peels and depend upon your tailored peel regime. Your practitioner will discuss what peeling to expect for your individual treatment.
WHAT WILL I LOOK LIKE AFTER MY PEEL TREATMENT?
Immediately after the peel has been applied the skin may appear pink, like a sunburn. The post peel procedure kit will help your skin recover quickly and you should expect to have normal skin colour by the following day, if not sooner.
IS SUN EXPOSURE ALLOWED AFTER MY PEEL TREATMENT?
Sun exposure should be limited if not avoided before and during the peel process to avoid uneven exposure. Your post peel procedure kit contains a sun protection cream, but you should also consider purchasing a full size AlumierMD SPF for continued skin health and protective benefits.
WILL THE PEEL HELP IMPROVE MY ACNE AND ACNE SCARS?
With continued maintenance treatments each 4-6 weeks, mild to moderate acne will likely be improved, however acne can be troublesome, and your practitioner may discuss other acne treatment options.
What are common peeling Ingredients?
Some common peeling ingredients include alpha hydroxy acids, beta hydroxy acids, trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and retinol. Alpha hydroxy acids include glycolic acid (from sugar cane), lactic acid (from milk), citric acid (from oranges and lemons), malic acid (from apples and pears), tartaric acid (from grapes) and mandelic acid (from bitter almonds). Salicylic acid is the only beta hydroxy acid. The strength of a chemical peel is determined by the type of ingredients used, their concentrations and the pH of the formulation.
Not all peels are created equally, and one peel type doesn’t suit all. Certain ingredients may be more effective for treating acne, while others may be more successful in treating hyperpigmentation or the signs of aging.
What is the difference between an AHA and a BHA peel?
AHA peels work by reducing sulfate and phosphate groups from the surface of corneocytes to decrease corneocyte cohesion leading to exfoliation of epidermal cells.
BHA peels are lipid soluble allowing deeper penetration into the follicle. As well, BHAs have anti-inflammatory properties and are able to neutralize bacteria. These properties make BHAs ideal for acne. BHAs work as both keratolytic and comedolytic agents by causing cells of the epidermis and in the follicle to shed, clearing the pores and allowing room for new cell growth.
What is an enzyme peel?
Like a chemical peel, an enzyme peel is also a treatment used to improve skin texture and appearance. Enzymes are applied to skin, which loosen the connections between dead skin cells, inducing exfoliation and stimulating new cell growth. This process causes superficial layers of dead skin to peel off, revealing a smoother and more radiant complexion. Enzyme peels both nourish and exfoliate the skin and are usually made with fruit enzymes. The most popular fruit enzymes are papain, found in papayas, and bromelain, found in pineapple.
Why should beneficial ingredients be applied post-peel and not within the peel solution?
Most beneficial ingredients for the skin tend to degrade or denature when placed in the low pH of chemical peel formulas. With that scientific information in mind, AlumierMD peels use only the pure acids; anti-aging, antioxidant and brightening booster ingredients are applied post-peel in our Brightening Accelerator keeping all components effective.
Peels remove the outer dead layers of the stratum corneum, so the booster ingredients are better absorbed when applied post-peel. Our multilayer process can be customized according to your skin profile and concerns.
