Frequently Asked Questions | LumiClear Microneedling
-
LumiClear is a clinic-only, licensed acne microneedling protocol using Dermapen 4 alongside specialist preparation and post-treatment steps to support acne bacterial reduction and calm inflammatory breakouts.
-
LumiClear Microneedling is best suited to inflammatory acne at the papule and pustule stage. It is designed for active surface breakouts that benefit from a structured in-clinic protocol alongside consistent home care. For those with mild comodonal acne (blackedad and occasional pustules) the LumiClear Facial may be a more suitable option.
-
LumiClear Microneedling is not suitable for severe, cystic or nodular acne, or deep painful under-the-skin lesions. These forms of acne require a different treatment pathway with a GP or Dermatologist involvement.
-
Your LumiClear Microneedling appointment follows a structured, multi-step clinical protocol:
CLR Cleanse to prepare the skin
DP Cliniprep for professional skin preparation
CLR Mesoglide used during treatment
Dermapen 4 microneedling to support oxygenation within the pilosebaceous units and stimulate the body’s natural production of hypochlorous, helping reduce acne bacteria and calm inflammation
Uber Peel to further support bacterial reduction, exfoliation and skin clarity
BL Mask to calm the skin and reduce post-acne pigmented marks and post-treatment heat
LED Light Therapy (Blue + Near-Infrared) to support acne bacterial control, reduce inflammation and encourage recovery
-
LumiClear is generally very well tolerated. We do not use topical anaesthetic because the microneedling is very superficial.
Most patients describe the sensation as a mild scratching feeling, with some areas more sensitive than others. At certain stages, you may feel a brief build-up of intense heat within the skin, which settles quickly.
After treatment, a mild sunburn-like appearance and sensation is normal and usually resolves within 24 hours. Your aftercare products and LED therapy help calm and support the skin as it recovers.
-
LumiClear is designed for active acne management. While you may notice improvement in superficial post-acne marks and skin texture, deeper acne scarring is better treated with CellRenew Microneedling, which targets deeper structures and collagen reorganisation.
-
It varies from person to person. LumiClear is recommended as an initial course of 3 treatments, with one every 2 weeks, to help stabilise the skin and calm inflammatory activity. Depending upon your acne, you may wish continue with further treatments or switch to our Lumiclear Acne Facial afterwards. For some patients their homecare alone will continue to help them manage their acne without further professional treatment.
-
Yes. The price of the initial course of 3 treatments includes initial at-home skincare, selected to support your acne journey and maintain progress between clinic visits. Typically this saves around £130 on skincare and treatment costs if purchased separately.
As products are used up, you’ll need to repurchase additional home-care products to replace and support your routine throughout your treatment journey and beyond.
-
Downtime is minimal. You may experience redness, warmth and mild sensitivity immediately after treatment, which typically settles within 24 hours. We’ll provide clear aftercare guidance to support recovery.
